Surveillance record
No office held, so no votes. One campaign statement bears on the county’s camera network, and one on ICE since the primary:
- Feb 24, 2026. In WLOS’s primary profile of the two Republican candidates, he pledged to stand up a “Unified Operations Intelligence Center to share actionable intelligence with all agencies,” and, per the reporter, to seek grants for the department’s drone program and a helicopter. On immigration: “As the Sheriff, I don’t enforce on behalf of ICE. My job is to enforce state laws and local ordinances.” (WLOS)
- Oct 2, 2026. At the CIBO candidate forum, asked whether a warrant is required for the Sheriff’s Office to detain someone for ICE, he said the office should check whether a person brought into the jail has a detainer and enforce it, citing H.B. 10 and H.B. 318: “They’re supposed to work more closely with ICE. That’s not happening now” (Citizen Times via Yahoo).
The county already runs a real-time intelligence center on Axon’s Fusus platform, about 2,000 cameras, with APD access under a 2023 agreement and a stated goal, in APD’s own workgroup notes, of a “regional RTIC” (The RTIC Policy). The statement does not say whether his center would be that one, replace it, or sit beside it, which agencies “all agencies” includes, or what a resident could see of it.
No statement found on the Fusus network itself, Flock, plate readers, the school-camera integration, or the sheriff’s access log. Searched Sept 17, 2026: his campaign site and its About page, his Instagram and Facebook accounts, and regional news since the primary. Regional coverage checked again Oct 7, 2026, including the Oct 2 forum: no statement on the cameras.
In his words
- “Unified Operations Intelligence Center to share actionable intelligence with all agencies.” (WLOS, Feb 24, 2026)
- “As the Sheriff, I don’t enforce on behalf of ICE. My job is to enforce state laws and local ordinances.” (WLOS, Feb 24, 2026)
- “They’re supposed to work more closely with ICE. That’s not happening now.” (CIBO forum, Oct 2, 2026, per the Citizen Times)
What is pending with him
Would the intelligence center he pledged be the existing Fusus center, and would its audit log be published? Would he keep, expand, or cut the camera network and the ~1,500 school cameras on it? Which agencies would “all agencies” include, and under what written terms? See Election 2026.
