On July 14, 2026 Young chaired the unanimous vote to bar the Sheriff’s Office from spending county money on Flock and terminate the contract. He is the regional demonstration that a commission chair can use the budget lever the law gives him (What the Law Lets the County Do), and that a Republican board can do it in twenty minutes.

The question for him

The four school cameras were deferred to school leaders, who say neither the sheriff nor Flock has contacted them. Will the board finish the job? (Macon County)
