Title: Chief of Police, Town of Rutherfordton (with the department since 2005; chief since May 1, 2020) (Rutherford Weekly)

Surveillance record

Ingle’s consistent public line is that the cameras are for serious crimes, missing persons, and alerts, not traffic enforcement. After a Flock camera was found damaged in July 2026 he put the replacement cost at about $3,500 and the department’s statement promised anyone responsible “will be arrested when appropriate”; as of August 22 no arrest has been reported (WLOS · Annie Dance · Rutherford County). The 24,000-plus comments were national virality, not local sentiment, and vandalism hands the surveillance side its best argument (How Cities Won).

The question for him

How many cameras does the town run, who can search them, and has the department ever audited a search? The count has never been published.
