Langley’s company says its mission is to “help eliminate crime.” Under him Flock built National Lookup, the one-setting nationwide search that put a Texas abortion search and thousands of ICE lookups within reach of any customer, then withdrew it for three states whose laws forbade the sharing (Flock Safety · Stories That Check Out). He told Forbes in June 2025, “We will just open up the five nearest cameras in real time and say, here’s what’s happening right now,” and told ABC7 in July 2026, after LAPD let the contract lapse over false stops, “A car drives by, we take a picture. It’s a static picture of a car, and then we read the license plate” (404 Media). The company’s August 2026 safeguards (7-day default retention, mandatory MFA, offense filtering on shared searches) are the clearest list of what the product allowed before (Flock Safety).
